Aftertake / FIELD NOTES

Accurate podcast chapters start with real timestamps

A chapter title is useful only when it takes a listener to the right place.

Start from the final edit

Use timestamps from the version you will publish. Removing an introduction or advertisement can shift every later chapter.

Name a topic change

Write a short, descriptive heading for a meaningful change in the discussion. Not every small exchange needs a chapter.

Listen at each boundary

Jump to each proposed time and check the transition. A transcript with no timestamps cannot reliably supply exact chapter times.

Put it into practice.
